Sales Application Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

The Sales Application Engineer is responsible for the timely and efficient production of all sales proposals. Working in conjunction with the sales and engineering team as the key technical advisor and product advocate. This position reports to the Sales Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate TBM Sales Proposals of all levels in the assigned time frame.
  • Prepare revisions, amendments or addendums to sales proposals in response to inquiries from client.
  • Assist the sales and engineering team with technical and application support.
  • Resolve technical support requests or issues related to product selection, application, specification, etc.
  • Source drawings and sketches/graphics for proposals as required.
  • Produce proposal manufacturing programs – graphical representations of the steps involved in building a TBM.
  • Co-ordinate and assist in the preparation of higher level proposals documents and contracts as directed by Supervisor.
  • Achieve goals as set out by department.
  • Read ad review assigned materials as part of training.
  • Follow and ISO policies and procedures developed for the department.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in technical sales with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and practical experience with tunneling boring machines preferably.
  • Previous experience in technical sales and/or proposal writing.
  • Interpretation and understanding of blueprints.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), AutoCAD, Solidworks is an asset.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Organized with keen attention to detail.
  • Adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Additional language capabilities in Spanish, Mandarin, and/or French is a definite asset.

  • Ability to read hydraulic blue prints and drawings.
  • Ability to perform complex system studies for short circuit analysis, time-current coordination, motor starting, harmonics reduction, grounding and load flow analysis.
  • Ability to understand various product functions in relatively limited time.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Abilities to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to specifications.
  • Abilities to work well under pressure and good work ethics.
  • Abilities to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  • Adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Willing and able to work overtime when needed.
